September 5th, 2020, University of Alicante, Spain
Venue: University of Alicante, Spain
The II ILLA Colloquium for PhD Students will be held at the University of Alicante (Spain) just one day before the III ILLA Focus Conference on Forensic Linguistics and two days before the start of the V ILLA General Conference.
The focus of this one-day event will be on the question of how legal norms are constituted, processed and contested through linguistic signs and other communicative practices. Investigating this question, the first part of the colloquium will be spent discussing fundamentally relevant texts. During the second part of the event, participants will give brief presentations of their current and thematically relevant dissertation projects.
One goal of this colloquium is to provide an introduction to pragmatic legal linguistics, as it was developed in the Heidelberg Research Group of Legal Linguistics (the oldest research group on legal linguistics in the world); at the same time, this event is designed as a platform for international exchange between PhD from all over the world.
Habilitation candidates are also encouraged to participate.
